From October 20 to November 04 2018, the castle of Brézé changes in celebration of Halloween.
Shrouded in mysteries and old legends, Halloween comes back one more time at the castle of Brézé. Halloween, and autumnal tradition, find its origin in a celtic celebration : The Samain. 2 500 years ago, this day was celebrated by our ancestors as the end of summer and the beginning of a new year. Inbetween the season of life and the season of death, a passage was supposed to open between the world of the living and the world beyond, allowing the spirits of the dead to come back and haunt the living. This bridge between the two worlds made these spirits visible to the mortal eyes. The celebration of Samain lasted for a week ; a week of abundant feasts, ritual sacrifices and holy punishment…
Deep terror, chill, shakes, jumps... The Castle of Brézé becomes haunted on Halloween. Sensitive souls, begone ! Only the bravest of knights and warrior princesses dare to venture within the castles's tunnels, filled with the wailing ghosts from the army of the Prince of Condée. Will you be one of them ? Come and defy the horsemen's ghosts, and restore peace to the Castle !
On this occasion, a course will be available to children, so that they may discover the surroundings with a different perspective. An Halloween game inspired by a former inhabitant of the castle : Urbain of Maillé-Brézé. A game rewarded with a mysterious prize, worthy of the contestants' bravery ! Food and drinks will be provided. Two courses are available, one for the 4/6 years-old and another for the 7/12 years-old.
Events are available to children but also to parents :
From October 20 to November 04 (except 31th) :
- Workshop « Create a skeleton with cotton swabs !» (for children of 5 to 12 years-old – for the youngest, the children must be accompagnied by an adult)
1 workshop of 20 children per day – from 3PM to 4PM – On demand
- Disguise contest for both adults and kids
Every day from 4:30PM – on demand – 10 persons max.
October 31th :
- Workshop « I draw my pumpkin » for children of 5 to 12 years-old (children must be accompagnied by an adult)
1 workshop from 11:00AM to 12:00AM and another from 3:30PM to 4:30PM – 20 chidlren per workshop – on demand
- Workshop « Create a skeleton with cotton swabs !» (for children of 5 to 12 years-old – for the youngest, the children must be accompagnied by an adult)
